June 2005 - JACKSON HOLE, WY -- Death of a Washington Madame by Warren Adler, a new title in the Fiona FitzGerald mystery series, will be given away to the public free by e-mail this summer to readers who sign up at the author’s website, www.warrenadler.com, it has been announced by Stonehouse Press. The full-length novel will be published in September as a trade paperback and in e-book formats, and is the seventh in a series featuring Adler's detective character Fiona FitzGerald, the daughter of a Washington Senator who covers high-profile homicides as a member of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. Stonehouse Press is releasing the free e-mail serial as part of the 25th Anniversary of the publication of The War of The Roses – the best-known book by Warren Adler that became a classic film starring Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. "While e-mail novels are not new, I believe we have improved on the concept," said Adler. "For example, some people enjoy fiction better in print, so the e-mail chapters of my novel can be printed. I've also heard from people who run book groups that participants often have a hard time finding enough copies of a book at a store or library. This solves that problem, too." Adler said he hoped these innovations would familiarize a new audience with electronic books, and with the other six books in the Fiona FitzGerald Mystery Series, which include the top-selling titles Senator Love, The Witch of Watergate and American Quartet. Mr. Adler, who resides in Jackson Hole and New York City, is the author of 27 novels and a pioneer in the electronic book industry. He was recently featured in Roundup, the magazine of the Wyoming Library Association and is a founder of the Jackson Hole Writers Conference, now in its 14th Year. Stonehouse Press, founded in 1999, offers Mr. Adler's works in as many as nine different electronic book formats. "Digital publishing should evolve not just from publishers but from readers," Mr. Adler said. "I'm looking forward to getting feedback from mystery fans who will take this opportunity to try out what may be their first full-length downloadable book."
