July 2002 - Auburn, CA - July 2002: This summer marks the release of a controversial new book that adds an explosive component to the current atmosphere created by recent church sex scandals and global religious conflicts. The book is entitled Whatever You Do, Stop Going to Church - It Wasn't God's Idea in the First Place. Author Dan Stockin provides a no-holds-barred account of modern day religion, including a behind-the-scenes account of working for a televangelist, and a discussion of such hot-button topics as why churches limit women's roles and why millions of churchgoers should stop giving their money to churches. Readers who harbor questions about religious groups and their doctrines will find themselves glued to the book, especially if they are unsatisfied by traditionally accepted church beliefs or if they question the motives of church leaders. The book is not an exercise in promoting atheism, because Stockin remains committed to a path of spirituality. He points out that Abraham, Noah and other spiritual forefathers had no church to attend, no synagogues to join, and no Bible to read, yet they talked to God just fine, thank you very much. Stockin believes millions of religiously frustrated readers know inside themselves that God does not need the hindering influence of religious dogma and hierarchies to communicate to individuals today. The book will be shocking to some, and a breath of fresh air to others. Whatever You Do, Stop Going to Church! is published by Third Option Concepts International and is available through book stores or on-line sellers everywhere.
