January 2002 - When A Woman Prays is now available. Merrill author, Tina L. Miller, knows that miracles can happen when a woman prays and that no prayer ever goes unanswered. For every woman who has ever been frustrated or disappointed with her life, is searching for something "more," or is dealing with a difficult situation, Miller's new book, When A Woman Prays (Obadiah Press, ISBN 0-9713266-1-4, $15.95 U.S.), will inspire readers to tap into the power of prayer and change their lives. "Prayer," says Miller, "is the one thing--the one constant--that can see you through no matter what the circumstances. It is the one thing that can really andtruly make a tangible difference in your life when nothing else can. Developing a personal, intimate relationship with God through prayer can sustain you through the most difficult situations, comfort you when nothing seems to be going right, and bring you peace in the midst of tragedy and chaos." "Especially in light of some of the recent tragic events in the U.S. and around the world, people are realizing they need to tap into the power of prayer and get closer to God now more than ever before," she adds. While the book has been in the works for nearly two years, the timing couldn't be better, she says. "People are praying like never before. They need to know that there is a loving God watching over us who can bring us comfort and guide our steps when everything just seems so totally out of our control. They need to know they're not alone." Her own personal relationship with God has sustained Miller through a miscarriage, a divorce, the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, the loss of her job, and countless other trials and tragedies in the course of her 33 years. "But by God's grace, He has used those difficulties to bring me closer to Him," Miller says. "I've learned that He can use everything for His good--even things that seem awful at the time." And so it would seem. When friends and acquaintances asked Miller how she could always be so positive, even when she's had to deal with so much, she realized just how important her faith was. "It was what kept me going no matter what," she said. "And that's when I realized that I needed to share that faith with other women who are still struggling to find that special relationship with God. That's when I knew I had to write the book." Sally E. Stuart, author of the annual Christian Writers' Market Guide and a dozen other books says, "When A Woman Prays teaches you how to move prayer from the role of crisis-management or after-thought to become the central powerhouse of a full and rewarding life." "That's important," Miller asserts. "Prayer isn't just for the difficult times. Prayer is really a relationship with God--an ongoing relationship--that continues during good times and bad. So many people out there--but especially girls and women--are searching for that something that is missing in their lives. And they're looking in all the wrong places. When A Woman Prays points them back in the right direction." When A Woman Prays is "...an exceptionally honest book that hits just about every chord a woman experiences in life," says Alyice Edrich, freelance writer and author. "But it goes one step further. It teaches women to turn to the only true source that can fill all the empty spaces and offer complete contentment, regardless of what is happening in and around her..." Miller describes the book as part primer on prayer and part personal experience, but 100 percent inspired. She says that writing the book was a labor of love, but also of faith. "The responsibility of writing a Christian book about such an awesome topic can be overwhelming. It's hard to feel adequate for the task even when I know in my heart that this was what I was called to do," she says. Since losing her corporate job in 1999, Miller has been pursuing her calling to Christian writing and publishing full-time. In 2000 Miller and LaDonna Meredith of Springdale, Arkansas, partnered to launch Obadiah Press, a Christian publishing house, and Obadiah Magazine, a quarterly Christian magazine distributed by subscription worldwide. While the book will be officially "released" in bookstores on May 2, 2002, to coincide with the National Day of Prayer, the book is already hot off the presses and available by mail (send $17.95 ppd to ObadiahPress, 607 N. Cleveland Street, Merrill, WI 54452) and can also be ordered online (send an email to:tina@obadiahpress.com). When A Woman Prays is the first of several books Obadiah Press has scheduled for publication and release in the coming months. ###
