August 2000 - In l991 when no publishing house dared take on the how-to book, Final Exit: The Practicalities of Self-Deliverance and Assisted Suicide for the Dying, Derek Humphry published it himself as a hardcover.

It became an instant best seller, 18 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list, and Publisher's Weekly top nonfiction bestseller for Sept 18, l991. During the last eight years, as a Dell trade paperback, it has held a place consistently in the top ten medical reference books.

Now Humphry has returned again to self-publish. This time it is the Supplement to Final Exit ($7.00 US) issued by the Norris Lane Press, of Junction City, Oregon. The book adds to, and updates, the trade paperback.

The Norris Lane Press is a small press run by Humphry to market his seven books on 'the right to die' http://www.finalexit.org/norris/. The small press is a partner with the Euthanasia Research & Guidance Organization (ERGO) in publishing this volume.

"There was no need at this point to revise the original book," says Humphry. "It still stands as THE textbook on euthanasia. It has helped thousands worldwide to get relief from their suffering. But recent developments, particularly on the use of inert gas for assisted suicide, required additions to it."

Humphry's new book - his 14th in 40 years - was written on Microsoft Word, designed by Zazou Art and Design, in Portland, Oregon, and sent by DSL to Delta Print Quantity Needed, in Valencia, California, which supplied finished copies within ten days.
