July 2000 - Toronto, ON and Philadelphia, PA -- Inkspot, the award-winning writer's community, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to become part of Xlibris, the leading independent author-driven self publisher's service provider, creating the most comprehensive online resource for the writing community. With the enhanced technology and broad resources offered by Xlibris, Inkspot will now be able to strengthen its online services and writer-specific programs.

"We are excited to welcome Inkspot to the Xlibris family," says John Feldcamp, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xlibris. "In this rapidly changing publishing environment, we are proud to align Xlibris with a company that operates based on the same principles and objectives that we define ourselves by each day."

The Inkspot and Xlibris alliance is a cooperative partnership designed to provide site users with the optimal tools and services available to writers. The Inkspot web site will be incorporated into the extensive Xlibris web site but will maintain its editorial and web site independence, its biweekly newsletter, Inklings, and its subscriber list. Inkspot will also enhance their writer resources by launching more newsletters focused on specific subjects as a benefit to their diverse subscriber base.

"The partnership is going to be hugely beneficial to the Inkspot writing community," says Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Inkspot. "Xlibris brings the technology and online infrastructure that will allow us to expand and enhance our resources and services to writers." She adds, "Xlibris shares our goal and vision of doing what is in the best interest of the writers; this is clearly evident in their policy of letting writers keep all rights to their work."

Launched in 1995, Inkspot exists as a resource for writers of all ages and levels of experience and offers useful tips, resources, and networking opportunities. Inkspot offers many unique features including a thriving community center where writers network with and help one another through polls, chats, and discussion forums as well as a section devoted to assisting writers with grammar and style, copyright information and work critique. In addition, the site provides regular feature articles and columns targeted towards established freelancers, beginners and young writers. The Inkspot newsletter, Inklings, is also distributed to nearly 50,000 members every two weeks.

"Xlibris is continually expanding and growing based on the needs and wants of writers. Therefore, this partnership with Inkspot allows us to supply our users with the wealth of information and knowledge available on the foremost writer's community that exists today," adds John Feldcamp. "By fusing the fundamental objectives of Xlibris and Inskpot, we are able to assist writers in reaching their full potential through self-publishing, promotion and writer resources."

Xlibris provides publishing and community services for writers. Xlibris provides direct, personal and nearly immediate access to publication in hardback, trade paperback and electronic formats, while enabling authors to keep their rights to their work. Xlibris' digital archives file and store the contents, which are printed on demand in single or short-run quantities and made available through traditional and online retail and distribution channels, as well as through Xlibris' web site. The objective of the company is to enable every writer to be published, and every book to be always in print and available.
