June 2000 - Time to Tell 'Em Off! A Pocket Guide to Overcoming Peer Ridicule is now the best-selling children's ebook on Booklocker.com. Beginning in mid-May, Booklocker began featuring it at the top of its home page (http://www.booklocker.com). Visitors can read a free excerpt, "Advice on Avoiding Depression," on the ebook's page (http://www.booklocker.com/bookpages/dmiller.html).
Written by a survivor of school bullying, Time to Tell 'Em Off! gives sympathy and advice to young people who are subjected to this abuse. A lot of self-help books about bullying are either simple picture books for very young kids or advice books for parents. This ebook is for older kids and teens (about 5th through 12th grade), who are usually the ones dealing with the really nasty jeering.
Reviews:
By Kelly Walsh, a 12-year-old at Scribes World Reviews (http://www.scribesworld.com/reviews/) "...I think this book could help a lot of people who are getting picked on, and I suggest it to anyone who wants to read it because it can help you even if you think you are completely under control. No one is perfect and maybe you could help someone who needs help."
By the Editors of Swerve Magazine (a teen ezine) (http://jump.to/swerve) "...The Pocket Guide is just that, about 40 pages on your computer, but contains some great advice concerning bullies. The message is repeated again and again: if you are bullied, there is nothing wrong with you. There is something wrong with them. A good read for any survivor of school bullying, but definitely ideal for those currently bearing the burden of being teased, Time to Tell 'Em Off is an important read."
By Stan Davis, bullying prevention specialist, social worker, and guidance counselor (http://www.cary-memorial.lib.me.us/bullyweb/) "Deanna Miller's book, Time to Tell 'Em Off! A Pocket Guide to Overcoming Peer Ridicule, is a clearly written guide to dealing with the effects of teasing and harassment. It presents a step-by-step plan for rebuilding self-esteem and rebuilding peer relationships. Highly recommended."
By Veronica Melgarejo - Link Up, A Web Site for Parents (http://www.linkup-parents.com) "Insightful and supportive to children who are being bullied. Wonderful advice."
