January 2000 - Smithfield, Rhode Island -- The first of a brand new childrens' picture book series has been published. With playful verse and colorful illustration Charlie's imagination comes to life bringing the reader through a series of mishaps and adventures.
The series is written in rhyming verse making it fun for children to read. Author/Illustrator Erin T. Whalen states that "Childhood is a time of fun, discovery, and adventure and should be kept that way even when reading or writing...those things that most children find to be a chore." She further supports this by running activities in conjunction with the Charlie's Head series. Among these activities are, but not limited to , coloring contests where the winners are announced and the artwork is displayed on the internet, major contests where the winner will actually star along side Charlie in his next adventure, and monthly newsletters that the readers participate in writing and publishing onto the internet.
