September 1999 - HOLLYWOOD -- In the first hours of its pre-publication posting on giant bookselling website Amazon.com in July this year, the controversial book, Daddy, an Erotic Memoir was already receiving orders according to the tiny independent publisher, Boustrophedon Press. The book is slated for publication Fall 1999.
Daddy is a father's searing confession of the forbidden love affair with his two adult daughters. Written by Raul Schmidt -- pseudonym of an Emmy Award-winning Hollywood screenwriter, playwright and author -- the book boldly treads across taboo territory to explore the depths of subconcious feelings that erupts in passionate expression.
The book's lead character, "Daddy," marries at the age of 18 and experiences the repercussions of the ill-prepared for teen marriage, including two little daughters. The young couple divorces and Daddy does not see his daughters again until 20 years later when one daughter searches him out. Father and daughters, adult young women now, cannot hide the powerful energy between the three of them and give themselves up to it. Familiar and yet strangers they cross over traditional boundaries of love, and a full gamut of sexuality is shared, described by Publishers Weekly as "utter moral turpitude."
A frankly told erotic love affair set in the dream world of Hollywood, Daddy, an Erotic Memoir is a unique psychological journey of the senses as each daughter comes of age in her father's arms. Inevitably, at times painfully, they evolve as parent and child. It is a rare memoir of incest without victims.
Author Raul Schmidt comments: "This story is true, only names have been changed to protect my daughters' privacy. It's their right to reveal their identities when and if they choose. This allowed me to write without self-censorship about a subject so taboo -- the ultimate taboo its usually called -- that society casts it beyond the pale, unthinkable as anything but abuse and tragedy. Like all love affairs, there was a downside, of course: tears, bitterness and heartache; but not in the way you've been taught to think. It wasn't that way at all."
Daddy, an Erotic Memoir will be available September 1999 in bookstores nationwide. With no advertising scheduled to appear until October 1999, and as yet only one published review (PW), DADDY is selling steadily at Amazon.com, already on its way to becoming an underground best-seller. Boustrophedon Press has three other books in the works: two in the erotic literature fiction genre, and the other a biography of the infamous 19th century publisher of classic erotic, Harry Sidney Nichols -- and his twelve-year-old "ward," Dolly.
Daddy author Raul Schmidt is available for media interviews provided his and his duaghters' anonymity is respected.
