September 1999 - Speculation Press is a new publisher of imaginative fiction. Speculation Press will be publishing six new fiction novels per year. Initially, the new novels will be sold exclusively through the Internet from speculationpress.com and Amazon.com.
Speculation Press's first two books are: Tribute Trail, a fantasy novel by Terri Beckett and Chris Power; and To Kill an Eidolon, a speculative fiction novel by Winifred Halsey.
Tribute Trail is a sword and sorcery fantasy. A great prince is kidnapped and sent as tribute to a clan of fierce horsemen. One of these fierce warriors must decide if he will Challenge the leader of his tribe, a decadent and treacherous warrior. He risks much if he Challenges; the fight is to the death. And if he wins, he loses his place at his hearth and his beloved wives. Tribute Trail is a story of love and war, treachery and magic, and of finding one's place in life.
To Kill an Eidolon is for X-Files fans everywhere. It is an unusual conspiracy with unlikely conspirators. As Susan Danville begins her post-doctoral research at a well-known midwestern university, she is watched by a group of people who know what she doesn't: she could be mankind's greatest weapon against death and disease, or its worst nightmare. But even the people watching her don't know what is stalking the young woman. Or what it plans as the next deadly epidemic. A spell-binding thriller from a new novelist.
Available in late fall, Speculation Press's third release, Gates of Hell is Susan Sizemore's debut science fiction novel. Susan Sizemore has published over fifteen novels in the field of romance, suspense, and horror. She has won the Romance Writers of America's Gold Heart Award, and has been nominated for Romance Times' Lifetime Achievement award. Gates of Hell is a spell-binding novel of a plague sweeping the galaxy. The only way to survive the devastating disease is to accept a life-time of addiction. Only one person can save the galaxy, a pirate dying of a slow poison. He might survive long enough to save the worlds of mankind, if he can convince a woman who hates him to save him.
