May 1999 - The Los Angeles Times, Sunday, April 18/The Kid's Reading Room recommends Riding On the Wind and Outlaws by San Diego author, Brix McDonald, as western frontier culture reading. Over the past months, stellar reviews have come from Barnes and Noble, School Library Journal, KLIATT, AB Bookman's Weekly, Midwest Book Review, Independent Publisher, and Children's Bookwatch (REVIEWS POSTED AT www.avepub.com). McDonald is nearing the release of her second title in the Carrie Sutton series, Outlaws, sequel to the highly recommended young adult historical fiction adventure, Riding On the Wind. McDonald continues her book tour through August, taping a segment for television April 10 with host Joan Hamil on "Rise & Shine" of Pacific American Independent Network. In the interview, McDonald speaks about her process of writing and the character of Carrie Sutton. Riding On the Wind is a historical fiction account of a young woman nearly sixteen who dreams of becoming a Pony Express rider. This month of April marks the 139th anniversary of the Pony Express run. The 1860's trail began in St. Joseph, Missouri, continued through Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and ended in Sacramento, California. Riding On the Wind is available through major distributors, wholesalers, and many Internet book sites including BookZone.
